Lucy Millard, Partner

Lucy has practiced primarily in the field of child and family law since qualifying as a solicitor in 2011. She regularly represents clients in court in complicated and anxious situations, whether that be in respect of contact or residence arrangements for children, financial disputes, or cases involving social work/children’s panel intervention. She adopts a pragmatic approach to resolve difficult situations as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Lucy is appointed regularly to act in an independent role to assist the Court in child cases, as Reporter and Curator ad litem in residence and contact disputes. Lucy is often instructed to represent other solicitors appointed as curators in contentious court proceedings.

Lucy has significant experience in adoption and permanence order proceedings, and is often appointed in an independent capacity by the court as curator and reporting officer in respect of these proceedings. Lucy undertakes adults with incapacity work and is on the list of court appointed Safeguarders at Edinburgh Sheriff Court. Lucy is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in Child Law, and is a member of the Scottish Legal Aid Board’s Children’s Quality Assurance Committee.

Richard (Rick) qualified in 1995 and has 30 years’ experience representing clients in all Courts and Tribunals across Scotland. His abilities have been recognised by his appointment to several part time judicial roles. He is also appointed to act in an independent role to assist the Court in child and adults with incapacity cases. He is also a peer reviewer for the Quality Assurance Scheme operated by the Law Society / Scottish Legal Aid Board.

Ellysa Ford, Solicitor

Ellysa undertook her undergraduate studies at Abertay University and went on to complete her diploma at the University of Edinburgh. She joined the firm in November 2023 as a trainee before qualifying in November 2025.

Ellysa has been appearing both in court and children’s panels from an early stage in her traineeship. She appears in court regularly, advocating for clients in a constructive but direct manner. Ellysa provides clients with straightforward advice with understanding and empathy. Ellysa principally assists clients with cases regarding contact, residence, parental rights and responsibilities and divorce, as well as children’s hearings. She also assists with some of the firms adults with incapacity work.

Neve completed her Undergraduate Law Degree LLB (Hons) at Edinburgh Napier University and Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Glasgow. She completed her traineeship in 2025 at a busy Edinburgh firm and joined us in November 2025 shortly after qualifying. Neve has a particular interest in Child Law, she has represented clients across a number of Sheriff Courts and regularly attends Children’s Hearings for clients who require assistance and representation within the Children’s Hearing System. Neve provides advice and representation for clients with confidence and composure, often in very difficult circumstances.

Andrew (Andy) completed his Undergraduate Law Degree LLB (Hons) at Aberdeen University and his Diploma at Aberdeen University Diploma. Andy commenced his traineeship with the firm in January 2025. Andy has appeared regularly in court since obtaining his restricted practicing certificate at an early stage of his traineeship. As well as child and family work, he also undertakes adults with incapacity work. Andy approaches complex issues in a calm and thorough way and particularly enjoys representing clients in court. Andy also assists with our court of session work and is building an increasingly broad base of knowledge and expertise.
